The National Flag of the USA, also known as the Stars and Stripes, has a rich history that dates back to the American Revolution. The first official flag was adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. It featured 13 alternating red and white stripes, representing the 13 original colonies, and a blue canton with 13 white stars, symbolizing a new constellation.

The design of the flag has evolved over time as new states joined the Union. The number of stars increased to reflect the growing nation, and the arrangement of the stars has also changed. The current design, with 50 stars and 13 stripes, was adopted in 1960 after Hawaii became the 50th state.

The colors of the flag also carry symbolic meaning. Red represents valor and hardiness, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The flag has become a powerful symbol of American identity and patriotism, representing the values and ideals of the nation.
