Meaning
The flag of India, popularly known as the Tiranga (Tricolour), features three horizontal stripes: saffron at the top, white in the middle, and green at the bottom, with a navy blue Ashoka Chakra (wheel) in the center of the white band. Each color carries profound significance—saffron represents courage and selflessness, white stands for truth and peace, and green symbolizes growth and harmony. The Ashoka Chakra, with its 24 spokes, represents justice, progress, and the dynamic nature of life. In my view, the flag beautifully reflects India’s moral values and forward-looking spirit.

History
The current national flag was adopted on July 22, 1947, just before India gained independence from British rule. Its design evolved from earlier versions used by the Indian National Congress during the freedom struggle. The final design, created by Pingali Venkayya, was accepted to represent a united, secular, and sovereign India. The Ashoka Chakra replaced the spinning wheel, symbolizing not just freedom but also continuous change and moral law.
